Archive of Normal Schools

　The history of Tokyo Gakugei University began with several teacher training schools established by the Tokyo Prefectural Government after the Meiji period. Beginning with the establishment of the Tokyo Prefectural Elementary School Teacher Training Institute in 1873, Aoyama Normal School, Women's Normal School, Toshima Normal School, Oizumi Normal School, and the Agricultural Teacher Training Institute (later Tokyo Youth Normal School) were also established. Materials related to each predecessor school are collected, organized, and made available to the public  by the Office of Tokyo Gakugei University Archives. A part of the collected materials is open to the public in this collection.
